Pantone has recently announced their colour of the year! So, I guess this means that we can expect more of Living Coral in the 2019 wedding themes? Oh I’m not too keen on it, if I’m being honest. As you know, my love for pastel always brings me back to 2016. In other words, can we just choose Rose Quartz again? Planning my own wedding has made me really interested in any emerging wedding trend – from the colour of the year to floral installations to opulent cakes to illustrated stationery! Are you also keen to be in the know? Well, keep reading and find out more about my 2019 wedding trend predictions!
Luxury Patisserie Tables
I don’t know about you but I would like to be treated to a lovely spread of scrumptious sweet treats! Why limit your guests to a couple of dessert options when they can enjoy a bigger selection of crafted patisseries. Wedding trend or not, the choices for a luxury patisserie table are endless! However, it’s really up to you to decide what to include. Think of profiteroles, panna cotta, pavlovas, meringues or even tarts! I’ve recently worked with luxury wedding suppliers Fen of MonAnnie Cakes and Alex of Alexandra Rose Weddings who have combined their expertise. Check out their new venture, The Patisseria. It’s your ultimate luxury dessert table experience!
Foam-free Floral Installations
Traditional floral foam is now understood to be harmful. Therefore, more and more florists have turned to foam-free floral designs. You may have seen floating floral installations on the wedding circuit this year because this is a top wedding trend for 2018. However, it looks it will continue being in the top picks for 2019. My favourite for 2018 is this one by Fiona Pickles of Firenza Flowers. It’s a real piece of natural art because it was created using artemisia and honesty branches. I really think this would be a showstopper piece at any wedding!
Opulent Wedding Cakes
Move over naked cakes, your time is long gone! We’re heading towards a fancier age for wedding cakes – the more impressive, the better! Think of delicate sugar flowers, intricate lace icing decorations, and hand-painted fondant designs. Sharon of Sadie May Cakes created this beautiful wedding cake with the prettiest sugar flowers. What an absolute treat and a beautiful way to join the wedding trend! I can assure you that it tastes every bit as good as it looks!
Illustrated Wedding Stationery
Invitations are your guests’ first peek into your wedding because they help set the tone for your big day months in advance. Therefore, why not showcase the Pantone colour of the year by adding a hint of living coral to your save the date cards? You can also add a bit of your own personality by sending out bespoke illustrated invitations as that will really add the wow factor! Take a look at this beautiful hand illustrated wedding stationery created by Katie of Katie Sue Design Co.
Grazing Platters and Feasting Tables
This latest trend in the catering world is now creating waves in the wedding industry. Imagine platters (or a table!) piled with cold meats, antipasti, fruits, nuts, bread, cheese, crackers, and dips. It’s a charcuterie board on steroids! Having a feasting table at your wedding allows you to create a less formal and more relaxed vibe and it also gives you more flexibility. For instance, you can choose to add this to your cocktail hour or use it to replace the traditional main meal. Either way, your guests will have more opportunities to interact. Ultimately, it encourages socialisation among them.
